Takelot Tour of Good Hope 2020 Edition
The Takealot Tour of Good Hope will be taking place in the Cape Winelands from 2-6 March 2020. This is the week leading up to the Cape Town Cycle Tour. The Takealot Tour of Good Hope race format comprises four race villages over four days in the Cape Winelands district.
The Takealot Tour of Good Hope is a multi-day road cycling race that has been held annually in South Africa. It is part of UCI Africa Tour for solo riders and teams. The event encompasses five days of clover leaf racing through the Cape Winelands over a total distance of 490 km and 5218m vertical ascent.
New Challenges Introduced to Popular Race
The race organisers have introduced a number of changes which they believe will present a strong challenge for the riders. In recent years the time trail has taken place on the second day, a Tuesday. This year, however, the time-trail will be held on the Wednesday, midway through the five-day race.
The riders would experience a slightly flatter profile this year, but the race would still provide a proper examination of the competitors’ credentials. It remains five days of intense rivalry, especially now that the event has UCI 2.2 status.
Brand New Race Venue
The host venue was changed and each day will start and finish at Boland Landbou school just outside Paarl. The only exception to the finish venue is on the 71km last stage when the riders will make the climb to end at the Taal Monument just outside Paarl.
